Frigidaire Oven Not Heating? Electric or Gas Range — Clock Set, Regulator Valve, Lockout, F / E Codes, Door Gasket, Voltage, Bake Element, Igniter, 2026 Gas Range Recall — Fixes, Costs, Repair vs Replace (2026)
Quick answer
⚠️ Gas range bought from June 2025 through January 2026? In March 2026, Electrolux Group and the CPSC recalled about 174,800 Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery, and Frigidaire Professional gas ranges because the oven's bake burner can ignite late, posing a burn hazard. Models include FCRG3051B\, FCRG3052B\, GCRG3060B\*, GCFG3070BF, and PCFG3080AF, in serial range VF52200000–VF54399999 (full list in the recall section below). Stop using the oven (the cooktop is OK) and contact Electrolux for a free new bake burner.
Frigidaire's free checks, cheapest first:
- Power: plugged in, breaker or fuse on, no house outage.
- Clock set? On some Frigidaire ranges, the Owner's Guide says the clock must be set for the oven to work. After a power outage, set it again.
- Gas models: the regulator gas valve must be turned to ON (see the installation instructions).
- Controls: the oven mode and temperature set correctly; Oven Lockout off (hold the keys your guide lists for 3 seconds).
- F or E code? Turn the mode and temperature knobs to OFF. If it repeats, Frigidaire's guide says turn off power for 5 minutes, then set the clock and try again. Frigidaire's error-code page says unplug for 30 seconds.
- Heats, but not hot enough (electric)? Frigidaire says it may not be getting full voltage, or the woven door gasket may be torn or missing. Then try the oven's temperature calibration.
Still cold? On electric ranges, the bake element is the usual part. On gas, it's usually the igniter (a weak igniter can glow without opening the gas valve), then the safety valve, sensor, or control.
Our partner pro call line is coming soon. Until then: if your appliance may still be under warranty, contact the manufacturer first. Otherwise, get two or three written quotes from local appliance repair companies, and ask about the diagnostic fee and the parts-and-labor warranty.
Verdict at a glance
| Your situation | What it usually means | Our verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Breaker off; clock not set after an outage; regulator valve OFF; Oven Lockout or Demo mode on; F code that clears with a power reset; temperature just a little low | Setup, settings, or calibration | ✅ Free fix |
| Electric bake element blistered, broken, or not glowing; gas igniter glows but the burner doesn't light; F code that returns | Bake element, igniter, sensor | 🔧 Usually worth repairing |
| Recalled gas range (2025–2026 models) | Bake burner recall | ✅ Free recall repair — don't pay for it |
| Control board and gas valve both bad; range 12+ years old with a second big repair in about 2 years | Repeat or expensive failures | ♻️ Lean toward replacing if the quote passes about half of a new range |
Safety check before any DIY (30 seconds)
Stop and don't start the DIY steps below if any of these is true:
- You smell gas. Don't touch switches or light anything. Leave the house and call your gas utility from outside.
- Your gas range is on the 2026 recall list. Stop using the oven and contact Electrolux (see below). Don't replace the burner yourself.
- Delayed ignition: a whoosh or small flash when the oven lights is a warning sign. Stop and call a pro.
- Power failure: Frigidaire's guide says don't operate the range during a power failure, and turn it off; reset the clock and oven function when power returns.
- Burn marks, melted wires, or a burning-plastic smell at the back or the terminal block. Switch off the breaker and call a pro.
- Electric ranges run on 240 V. Switch off the breaker before removing any element or panel.
- The range is in its first year. Frigidaire's warranty covers all costs; use it.
- Recall check: search your model on the CPSC recall site before paying for a repair. Frigidaire ranges have had several recalls (see below).
If none of these apply, the free checks below are safe for most owners.

Which Frigidaire range do you have?
Find the model and serial number on the nameplate. For the recalled gas ranges, the CPSC says it's in the drawer beneath the oven. You need it for the recall check, parts, and service.
| Type | Model prefix (examples) | Oven heat source | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric freestanding | Often FCRE (check label) | Bake element and broil element | 240 V; Frigidaire says low voltage can keep the oven from getting hot enough |
| Gas freestanding | Often FCRG (check label) | Bake burner with igniter; broil burner | Regulator gas valve must be ON |
| Gallery gas | Often GCRG / GCFG (check label) | Same | Some 2025–2026 models are recalled |
| Professional gas | Often PCFG (check label) | Same | PCFG3080AF is on the 2026 recall list |
| Wall ovens | Varies (check label) | Element or burner | Different parts from ranges |
Prefixes are examples, not a full list. Your Owner's Guide shows your control layout, lockout keys, and calibration steps.
Five-minute checks before you call anyone
- Recall first (gas ranges sold June 2025 to January 2026): compare your model and serial with the recall list below.
- Power: is the display on? Check the breaker or fuse (Frigidaire's guide).
- Clock: if the clock is flashing 12:00 after an outage, set it. On models like the one in Frigidaire's Professional gas range guide, the oven won't work until you do.
- Gas: do the cooktop burners light? If not, it's a gas supply or ignition issue for the whole range. Make sure the regulator valve at the back is ON (installation instructions).
- Lockout and Demo: look for a lock icon. Frigidaire's error page says to turn off Demo mode at the breaker (off 45 seconds, back on, then turn Demo off in Settings).
- Codes: turn the mode and temperature knobs to OFF, then try Bake again. If a code repeats, cut power for 30 seconds (Frigidaire error page) or 5 minutes (Owner's Guide), set the clock, and try again.
- Electric bake element: switch off the breaker and look for blisters, breaks, or burn spots. On Bake, a working exposed element glows (our tip).
- Gas igniter: on Bake, look through the oven floor slots. A glow for more than 90 seconds with no flame points at a weak igniter (non-OEM parts guidance; see below).
- Door gasket: Frigidaire says the woven gasket is essential for a seal. Don't rub, pull, or clean it; if it's torn, worn, or missing, it may need replacing.
- Foil: Frigidaire warns never to cover the oven bottom or a whole rack with foil.
How to know it's fixed: the oven reaches the set temperature in a normal preheat, and an oven thermometer on the center rack agrees within your comfort range.
Frigidaire's own pages disagree on clearing an error code
Frigidaire's support site and its Owner's Guide give different reset steps. Here they are side by side.
| Frigidaire owner support: "Oven Error Codes and Alarms Guide" | Frigidaire Professional gas range Owner's Guide (PCFG3080AF), "Before You Call" | |
|---|---|---|
| How to clear a code | Unplug for 30 seconds, or flip the breaker (resets everything on that circuit) | Turn the oven mode and temperature knobs to OFF. If the code repeats, turn off power for 5 minutes, then set the clock and try Bake or Broil again |
| F10 | Standard ranges: oven detects higher-than-normal temperature. Turn it off, let it cool, and contact Frigidaire if it persists. (Stone-Baked Pizza ovens: check the Pizza Shield is in rack position 7) | Not listed by number; any repeating F or E code: knobs to OFF |
| Oven won't operate | Not covered on that page | Regulator gas valve ON; clock must be set; controls set properly |
Our take: start with the guide's gentle step (knobs OFF), then the 30-second power reset; if the code comes back, try the full 5-minute power-off and set the clock. A code that keeps returning, especially F10, means a sensor, control, or overheating fault for a technician.
Frigidaire oven codes and signs linked to "not heating"
| Code or sign | What Frigidaire's sources say | First fix (free) | If it continues | DIY tier |

| Oven won't operate, cooktop OK (gas) | Regulator valve not ON; clock not set; controls not set | Valve ON; set the clock | Service | Easy |
| F10 | Higher-than-normal temperature detected (standard ovens) | Turn off, let it cool | Contact Frigidaire | Pro only |
| F30 | Open probe | Unplug 30 seconds | Sensor or wiring | Moderate |
| F90–F94 | Door lock issue | Press UNLOCK; follow the screen; power reset | Door lock | Pro only |

Which part each symptom points at:
| Symptom | Part most often involved | DIY tier |
|---|---|---|
| Electric: oven cold, broil works | Bake element | Moderate |
| Electric: bake works, broil doesn't | Broil element | Moderate |
| Gas: no igniter glow on Bake | Igniter, or no power to it (control) | Advanced |
| Gas: igniter glows, no flame | Weak igniter, then safety valve | Advanced → Pro only |
| Heats but runs cool or hot | Temperature sensor, or calibration | Easy → Moderate |
| F code returns after resets | Sensor, control board, or wiring | Moderate → Pro only |
Codes and steps from Frigidaire's US owner support articles and the Frigidaire Professional gas range Owner's Guide (sources 1–3), checked 2026-10-30. Igniter behavior and "most commonly replaced part" notes come from a parts-retailer page and are labeled as non-OEM (source 6). The part mapping is our own. The open ApplianceDB sample (source 12) has no Frigidaire range codes, so it wasn't used for these tables.
Diagnose by symptom → likely part
Before you touch parts: Switch off the breaker. On gas ranges, also close the gas shutoff valve before you remove the oven floor or any panel.
1. Electric: oven stays cold (or broil works but bake doesn't)
Likely cause: a failed bake element. Look for blisters, breaks, or burned spots (breaker off). If your oven has a hidden element under the oven floor, it's harder to reach; check your Owner's Guide.
DIY difficulty: Moderate.
| Part | What it does | DIY difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Bake element | Heats the oven from the bottom | Moderate |
| Broil element | Heats from the top | Moderate |
2. Gas: cooktop works, oven doesn't light
Likely cause: a weak or failed oven igniter. A parts-retailer page using the Frigidaire name (not Frigidaire owner support) calls the igniter the most commonly replaced part for a gas oven that won't heat, with the control board, safety valve, and thermal fuse next. It says the igniter must glow strongly and draw enough current to open the safety valve; if it glows for more than 90 seconds without lighting the burner, replace it.
Check the recall first: if your gas range is on the 2026 list, the remedy is a new bake burner, installed free.
DIY difficulty: Advanced (gas parts: many owners should call a pro).
| Part | What it does | DIY difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Oven (bake) igniter | Heats up and opens the safety valve, then lights the burner | Advanced |
| Broil igniter | Same for the broil burner | Advanced |
3. Heats, but runs too cool (or too hot)
Likely cause: the oven needs calibrating, the door gasket leaks heat, or the temperature sensor is off. Frigidaire's "Not Hot Enough" article says check voltage and the gasket, then calibrate per your Use & Care manual. On the Professional gas range, that's the User Programmed Offset (uPo) in the settings menu (hold the light key for 3 seconds). If calibration doesn't hold, a tech can test the sensor.
DIY difficulty: Easy (calibration) → Moderate (sensor).
| Part | What it does | DIY difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Oven temperature sensor | Tells the control the oven temperature | Moderate |
4. Igniter glows, but the burner never lights (gas)
Likely cause: if a new igniter doesn't fix it, the oven gas (safety) valve. This is gas work: call a pro.
DIY difficulty: Pro only.
| Part | What it does | DIY difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Oven gas valve (safety valve) | Opens when the igniter is hot enough | Pro only |
5. Codes keep coming back, or nothing heats with good parts
Likely cause: the oven control board, wiring, or a thermal fuse or safety thermostat. Boards are expensive and easy to misdiagnose; have a tech check the element or igniter, sensor, and wiring first.
DIY difficulty: Pro only.
| Part | What it does | DIY difficulty |
|---|---|---|
| Oven control board | Runs the bake and broil circuits | Pro only |
Call a pro if: it's any gas part, you see burn marks at the terminal block, F10 returns, your range is recalled, or it's in year 1.
Frigidaire range recalls to check before paying for a repair
The CPSC lists several Frigidaire range recalls. The newest is directly about oven heating:
| Recall | What and why | Remedy |
|---|---|---|
| 26-333, March 19, 2026 | About 174,800 Frigidaire, Frigidaire Gallery, and Frigidaire Professional gas ranges, sold June 2025 through January 2026: the oven's bake burner can ignite late, a burn hazard. Models FCFG3083AS, FCRG3083AD, FCRG3083AS, GCFG3060BD, GCFG3060BF, GCFG3070BF, GCRG3060BD, GCRG3060BF, PCFG3080AF, FCFG3062AB, FCFG3062AS, FCFG3062AW, FCRG3051BB, FCRG3051BS, FCRG3051BW, FCRG3052BB, FCRG3052BS, FCRG3052BW, FCRG3062AB, FCRG3062AS, FCRG3062AW, FCRG306LAF, GCFG3059BF, serial VF52200000–VF54399999 | Stop using the oven (the cooktop is OK); Electrolux installs a new bake burner free. Electrolux: 866-291-7633, [email protected], GasOvenBurnerRecall.com |
| 2024 (two recalls) | Frigidaire rear-controlled ranges (shock hazard; new control panel) and a reannounced recall of Frigidaire and Kenmore electric ranges (fire and burn hazard) | Per the CPSC notices |
Search your exact model at cpsc.gov/Recalls; recall repairs are free.
Prevent it next time
- Don't line the oven bottom with foil or cover a whole rack (Frigidaire).
- Don't clean or rub the door gasket (Frigidaire); clean around it.
- Wipe up big spills before the next bake; grease on the oven bottom can smoke or flame.
- After a power outage, set the clock and reset the oven function.
- Keep the area around the regulator valve and gas line clear when you move the range.
- If you hear a whoosh at ignition, stop and get it checked; delayed ignition is the hazard in the 2026 recall.

What Frigidaire's warranty covers on a range
Per the warranty in Frigidaire's Professional gas range Owner's Guide (see Sources); terms can differ by model, so check your own guide:
| Period | What's covered | Who pays labor |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1 (from date of delivery) | All costs for repairing or replacing any part that proves defective in materials or workmanship, when installed, used, and maintained per the instructions | Electrolux |
What this means for a cold oven: in year 1, a failed element, igniter, sensor, valve, or board is covered. The warranty excludes service calls to correct the installation (a regulator valve left off) or to instruct you how to use the appliance (clock not set, lockout on), damage from external causes such as an inadequate power supply, consumables such as light bulbs, and repairs by unauthorized servicers or with non-genuine parts. Keep your receipt or delivery slip. Recall repairs are separate and free regardless of warranty.

Before you pay for any repair: a 4-point check
- Recall: the 2026 gas range bake-burner recall, and others at cpsc.gov/Recalls. A recall repair is free.
- Warranty: year 1 from delivery; retailer or credit-card extended protection; your installer if installed in the past 30 days (Frigidaire's support pages send those back to the installer).
- Free fixes done: power, clock, regulator valve, lockout and Demo, code reset, gasket, foil, calibration.
- Written quote: ask for part, labor, and trip fee separately, and which test pointed to the part.
What it costs: repair parts and pro service (2026)
How we price this table: DIY part prices are Frigidaire / Electrolux-family part numbers listed on Sears PartsDirect public search pages for "frigidaire oven …" and "frigidaire range …" searches (S-list under Sources), USD before tax and shipping. Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, and Kenmore-, Crosley-, Tappan-, and White-Westinghouse-labeled parts, wall-oven-only parts, and surface burner valves were excluded. Ranges span several part numbers because the right part depends on your model number. Pro costs tagged [GUIDE] come from two US cost guides (Fixr = G1, HomeGuide = G2): national averages for ovens in general, not Frigidaire-specific quotes. "Varies — get a quote" means the guides don't itemize that job, so we don't show a price.

Repair vs. replace calculator
1. What's the all-in repair cost? → R = trip fee + part + labor + tax, minus anything Frigidaire's warranty (or a recall) covers
2. What does a comparable new range cost, all-in? → N
3. How old is your range, and how long should it last? → Age and Life (use about 13–15 years, inside both guides' ranges: Fixr 10–15, HomeGuide 10–20)
4. How much have you spent on repairs in the last 2 years? → Past
Step A — Cost ratio: R ÷ N
Step B — Life used: Age ÷ Life
Step C — Repeat-repair check: (R + Past) ÷ N
| Life used under 50% | Life used over 50% | |
|---|---|---|
| Repair under 50% of new | ✅ Repair | 🤔 Repair is usually fine. Check the cooktop and controls too |
| Repair over 50% of new | 🤔 Get a second quote first | ❌ Replace |
Repeat-repair rule: if Step C is over 50%, lean toward replacing.
Worked example 1 (illustrative numbers): A Frigidaire gas range bought in late 2025 lights the oven with a loud whoosh. It's on the 2026 recall list. R = $0.
→ Recall repair, not a paid repair.
Worked example 2 (illustrative numbers): An 8-year-old Frigidaire electric range bakes cold; the bake element has a blister. You replace it yourself: R = $60; N = $900.
60 ÷ 900 = 7%; life used 8 ÷ 14 = 57% → Repair.
Worked example 3 (illustrative numbers): A 15-year-old Frigidaire gas range needs a gas valve and a control board, a year after an igniter ($250): R = $650; N = $900.
650 ÷ 900 = 72%; life used 15 ÷ 14 = over 100%; repeat check (650 + 250) ÷ 900 = 100% → Replace.
Tips toward replacing: a board plus a valve on an older range, rust or cooktop problems too, or a second big repair within a year or two.
Tips toward repairing: it's an element, igniter, or sensor; the range is in year 1; or it's on a recall.
Why 50%? It's the common rule of thumb, and the one we use; HomeGuide also suggests repairing when the cost is under 50% of a new oven. Some technician checklists draw the line a little higher, at about 60% of a new range's price, so treat a repair that costs 50–60% of new as a second-quote zone, not an automatic replace.
Who services Frigidaire ranges near you
1. Electrolux recall line (recalled gas ranges). 866-291-7633, [email protected], or GasOvenBurnerRecall.com.
2. Your installer (new installs). Frigidaire's support pages say units installed within the past 30 days go back to the installer.
3. Frigidaire / Electrolux (warranty or authorized service). In year 1, start with Frigidaire. Frigidaire's warranty says service must be done by Electrolux or an authorized service company.

4. A partner appliance pro (out of warranty).
Our call line connects you with an independent appliance repair provider in your area. Tell them gas or electric, any F code, and what the element or igniter does.
Our partner pro call line is coming soon. Until then: if your appliance may still be under warranty, contact the manufacturer first. Otherwise, get two or three written quotes from local appliance repair companies, and ask about the diagnostic fee and the parts-and-labor warranty.
5. A licensed electrician. If an electric oven isn't getting full voltage (Frigidaire's "Not Hot Enough" cause), or the outlet or circuit is damaged.
6. DIY with the right part. An exposed bake element or a temperature sensor is DIY-friendly with the breaker off. Leave gas valves and burners to a pro.
Questions to ask any technician:
- Is my range on any recall?
- Did you check the igniter's draw (gas) or the element's continuity (electric) before quoting a board?
- Did you check the sensor and calibration?
- Can you split the quote into part, labor, and trip fee?
- What warranty do you give on your labor?
Optional: is an appliance warranty worth it?
A home warranty (service contract) can cover repairs for a yearly fee plus a per-visit service fee. Read the exclusions carefully: many plans exclude gas lines, installation errors, and cosmetic parts. A range that's already broken is usually not covered.
FAQ
Why is my Frigidaire oven not heating but the stovetop works?
On gas ranges, Frigidaire's guide says check that the regulator gas valve is ON and the clock is set. If those are fine, the igniter is the usual part. On electric ranges, it's usually the bake element. Check the 2026 gas range recall first.
Do I really have to set the clock for my Frigidaire oven to work?
On some models, yes. Frigidaire's Professional gas range guide says the clock must be set to operate the oven. After a power outage, set it again.
How do I reset a Frigidaire oven error code?
Turn the oven mode and temperature knobs to OFF. If the code returns, Frigidaire's error page says unplug or flip the breaker for 30 seconds; the Owner's Guide says turn off power for 5 minutes, then set the clock and try again.
What does F10 mean on a Frigidaire oven?
On standard ranges and wall ovens, the oven detected higher-than-normal temperatures. Turn it off and let it cool. If it persists, contact Frigidaire.
Why is my Frigidaire electric oven not getting hot enough?
Frigidaire says it may not be getting full electrical voltage, or the door gasket may be torn, worn, detached, or missing. Then try calibrating the temperature per your Use & Care manual.
Is my Frigidaire gas range recalled?
In March 2026, about 174,800 Frigidaire, Gallery, and Professional gas ranges sold June 2025 to January 2026 were recalled for delayed bake-burner ignition. Check your model and serial (VF52200000–VF54399999) on the nameplate in the drawer under the oven against the list above.
Is it worth fixing a Frigidaire oven that won't heat?
Usually yes for an element, igniter, or sensor. A control board plus a gas valve on a range older than about 12 years usually isn't. Use the calculator above.
